Tonite was a lot of fun! I hung out with some good friends who I don't get to spend a whole lot of time with usually! We enjoyed the crappy-turned-nice weather, the crowd, a gigantic snow"cone" that could have more accurately been described as a snow"bucket", and of course, the fireworks. The absolute highlight however, was meeting a monkey!!! He was the cutest little thing ever...and now I want one!
See, as we were parking in the garage, I saw these two dudes standing around by their car talking...and one was holding a baby bottle. I looked again, but saw no kid, but did notice that he had something tiny in his hand, wrapped up in a pink blanket. Now I was staring. I caught a quick glance at a little face and was completely delighted! I opened Jo-Nathan's car door before he'd even got us into a space and ran down the ramp to where the guys were and was like, "Oh my gosh!! How cute!! Why do you have a monkey?!!" Amy, Bre, and Michelle followed me--as did a reluctant Nathan, Joel, Jo-Nathan & Dan--and just like that, the monkey-boys had succeeded at making some friends...and I had succeeded at getting to meet the lil' monkey!!!
The rest of the nite we kept seeing them (in truth, we (and by "we" I mean the girls) were trying to keep them in our sights cause we wanted to hold the monkey), but none of us had the guts to approach them *again* and anyways, Joel told us we were lame. haha Bre & I only took this as a challenge however, and by the end of the nite, after the crowd had cleared and we pretty much figured we'd never see them again, lo & behold they appeared right beside us on our way out! (And I will call this Fate, because we had to have been some of the very last people to leave the Point--we'd intentionally waited so we could take funny silhouette pictures in front of the fountain. Conclusion: the monkey was Meant For Me!) hah. Anyways, so this led to all of us heading over to the PPG fountains, where I spent more time with this guy Eddie and the adorable but nameless monkey. It was fun to venture slightly into the fountain, but it was nowhere near hot enough to run through them as Slafka and I had done before...and anyways, we (the girls again) got the feeling that these boys were just a little too enthused about us getting drenched, so we opted out. We took lots of pictures of us, the boys, and the monkey, so hopefully I will actually get some of those. The boys offered to send them to us, so I ended up giving Eddie my number. He seemed like a nice enough guy. 28, graduated from Duquesne, good job, travels a lot, originally from Puerto Rico. Though it would be pretty cool if he actually called...I'm *really* hoping to hear from him so that I can reconnect with the monkey.
My night also included a phone call from another fellow...of the "one of the ones that got away" variety...he will be in town this Thursday nite...and we've already made plans. We'll see how it goes...
Adios!
